Ethiopian Advertising legend Wubshet Workalemahu dies at 77, yesterday.
Wubshet founded Anbessa advertising agency and produced more than ten thousand advertisements.
Wubeshet, a proud Ethiopian, a bold speaker, and an ambassador to Ethiopian culture, is considered to be the father of advertizing in Ethiopia.
The pioneer advertiser was also a role model for many Ethiopian advertising professionals.
Wubshet also served as a president of Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and was a one time Goodwill ambassador of Ethiopian Red Cross Association.
Wubshet who mostly identified by the Ethiopian traditional closings ” Shema and Kaba” has awarded many national and international prizes. In 1981 Wubshet awarded tittle of “The first African in Advertisement and public relations”
Born in 1938 EC in an area called ‘Mafud’, the province of ‘Menze’ and ‘Yifat’.
This hero figure is the ninth child of the family.
He is a father of two. One of his sons is a Professor. The other one is financial expert and investor.
Woubshet has a diploma in creative advertisement from the Netherlands. Furthermore, he possesses a diploma in advertising and public relations from American Biographical Institute.
Woubshet loves his country more than anything and known for his philanthropic works.
