Neway Gebreab, the former Chief economic adviser who advised Meles Zenawi and Hailemariam Desalegn passed away.
According to Tigray regional state communication bureau, Neway died today morning after suffering from long term illness.
Neway Christos Gebre-abis has been serving as Chief Economic Adviser to former prime misters Meles Zenawi and Hailemariam Desalegn.
He has also been Executive Director of the Ethiopian Development Research Institute since 2000.
During the 1960s and early 1970s Gebre-Ab worked at the Development Bank of Ethiopia and the Planning Commission.
He then worked as a Consultant in the United Kingdom and served as a staff member or consultant for various United Nations organisations.
He returned to Ethiopia in December 1991. Gebre-Ab earned his undergraduate degree in economics from Haile Selassie University, Addis Ababa, and his B.Litt. degree in economics from Oxford University.
