Ashebir Balcha, appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP), replacing Dr. Abrham Belay.
Ashebir has been appointed by the Board of Directors of Ethiopian Electric Power to serve EEP as Chief Executive Officer since Monday, February 17, 2020.
After completing his BSC degree in Mechanical Engineering from Arba Minch University Ashebir received MBA in International Business from Greenwich University.
After graduating, he worked as a mechanical engineer at Bedele Brewery.
In , he was hired by the Ethiopian Electric Power to work on the Gimbby-Mendi-Assosa power transmission line project.
He also served as a mechanical engineer at Tekeze hydroelectric power for six years.
He has been serving as a project manager since May 2011 and has been in charge of managing Hydropower & Wind Projects since October 2019 until the date of his appointment.
