Rallies to demand the release of 17 Dembi Dollo University students in the Oromia taking place in multiple cities and towns in Amhara regional state.
According to reports most of the rallies were held peacefully, protesters also carried posters denouncing the federal and regional governments’ silence.
The rallies were held in Bahirdar, Debremarkos, Woldia, Shewarobi, Durbete, Derebrihan, Finoteselam, and other towns, according to Amhara Mass Media Agency.
According to various reports, 17 Dembi Dollo University students were kidnapped on December 3, 2019, when they were traveling to Addis Ababa via Gambella. Petitions and media campaigns by activists and professionals are in full swing currently to highlight the plight of these students.
