Ambassador of Ethiopia to Eritrea Redwan Hussien to be appointed as a state ministry of State Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, replacing Ambassador Markos Rike (PhD), according to Addis Standard.
According to the news, Ambassador Markos is terminated from his position and received a letter signed and sent by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed a week ago.
Some sources say he was terminated from his position due to a recent remark he gave to media regarding the ban on a Chinese delegation from traveling to Mekelle, the capital of Tigray regional state, according to Addis standard.
Redwan appointed as Ethiopia’s envoy in July 2018 following the rapprochement between the two countries after 20 years of no-peace, no-war status, and his appointment is just weeks after he submitted letters of credentials to Eritrea’s President Isaias Afwerki.
Before his position as ambassador to Eritrea, Redan served in various higher government positions in Federal Government and the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Region government.
