State-run Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU) says it has obtained 10.1 billion Birr from the sale of electrical energy in the 2018/19 fiscal year.
Melaku Taye, Director of the Ethiopian Electric Utility, said in a press briefing on the 2011 implementation and 2018/19 plan, In the fiscal year, EEU plans to collect 21,88 billion birr from the sale of energy and collected 10. 123 billion birr.
According to Melaku, the performance is only 46 percent of the plan, he said EEU is looking forward to collecting better income for the coming fiscal year.
Transmission line improvements and capacity enhancement of eight towns which was financed by World Bank have totally completed, he said.
The Electric tariff which was announced on November 2018 will be effective from January 2020, the tariff is primarily to improve service quality, according to Melaku.
The average added price is set to be 1 birr of the total electric utility provided. The tariff change comes after 12 years and will be applicable starting from January.
