The Sidama referendum on regional statehood, which was due to be held on November 13, has been postponed by a week.
In a statement sent to FBC yesterday, the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) said the referendum will now be held on November 20 instead of November 13, 2019.
The board postponed the referendum to get more time for preparations, including recruitment of election officials, said the statement.
According to NEBE, about 5,500 officials will be recruited for the referendum.
The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia is working tirelessly to conduct the referendum, the statement added.
