The 12th Ethiopian national flag day will be celebrated under the theme “Our flag is the result of our diversity and the pillar of our unity” on October 14, 2019, according to the House of People’s Representatives (HPR).
The House of People’s Representatives (HPR) in today’s statement said it will be celebrated on extensive awareness-raising and public consultations on the national flag.
The flag of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia is a manifestation of the unity of our country which is based on the will of the people, reads the statement.
The Ethiopian nationalities and peoples have a long history of recognizing the flag as a symbol of their independence and sovereignty. Of course, the purpose of the Republic’s flag is the pride of freedom for African people who struggle to break free from the colonial yoke.
The awareness raising programs and consultation will help to accommodate for various ideas and reach consensus on questions being raised in connection with the flag.
The National Flag Day is celebrated at national level every year on the first Monday of the Ethiopian month of Tikimit (October).
