Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and his delegation held a series of meetings with development partners to discuss opportunities for investments and support to various initiatives.
First meeting with the Chairman of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), PM Abiy underscored that JETRO can play a significant role in Ethiopia’s current economic reforms. He encouraged them to also expand their investments and support to other Horn region countries, in-line with the MEDEMER prosperity vision through regional integration.
Abiy also met with Yohei Sasakawa, philanthropist and Chairman of the Nippon Foundation, which leads agricultural support programs in Ethiopia through Sasakawa Africa. PM Abiy encouraged assistance on the Addis Ababa rivers cleaning project and development of urban agriculture, based on the Japanese success of cleaning up river systems.
He also met with the President of Japan International Cooperation Agency who commended Prime Minister Abiy for his peace endeavors. PM Abiy reiterated the economic reform priorities and called upon JICA to support in the focus areas as well as in human capital and industry development.
