Amhara Culture and Tourism Bureau plans to collect a total of 3.5 billion birr form tourism for the coming fiscal year, Fana Broadcasting Corporate reports.
The amount of revenue which the bureau aims to earn is expected to be collected from over 16 million local tourist and more than 500 thousand foreign tourists, Amhara Culture and Tourism Burea, tourism director, Melkamu Adam, told Fana.
In the last fiscal year, the bureau collected about 2.6 billion birr from 11 million local and 270 international tourists, according to the director. bureau tourist flow in the region was 70 to 80 percent of the target.
Conflicts and unrests in a different part of the region were affecting the tourist flow of the region, said the director.
Ethiopia’s tourism had suffered the effect of anti-government protests that affected the industry after multiple states of emergencies were declared to quell the 2015 – 2018 protests.
