Parliament Approves Budget for the Ethiopian Fiscal Year 2012

The House of People’s Representatives has approved a 386.9 billion Birr budget, submitted by the Council of Ministers for the 2012 fiscal year, an increase of 40.3 billion Br (10.33%) compared to the previous year.
Of the total, 130.7 billion Birr is for capital expenditure, 109.4 billion for recurrent spending, 140.7 billion to subsidise regional states, and 6 billion for Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) projects.

Presenting the bill, Minister of Finance and Economy, Abraham Tekeste (Ph.D.), gave details of the performance of the current fiscal year and federal government priorities for the coming fiscal year.
