Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed is expected to meet with health professionals drawn from all corners of the country tomorrow Saturday, May 04, 2019, the Ministry of Health said.
Minister of the Ministry of Health, Amir Aman, indicated that the meeting is scheduled to be focused on questions and woes that the employees in the sectors are raising since recently.
The minister indicated that the meeting is aimed at responding to the questions and concerns that interns and other health workers are forwarding in various mediums.
The meeting that is expected to participate in health professionals from all areas of the country is hoped to lay the foundation to address the main bottlenecks in the sector in general.
Over the last weeks, Medical interns, students and professionals stage protests in multiple cities and university campuses against mistreatment, long working hours, low salaries and on the job safety, among others.
The discussion with the prime minister is expected to bring some solutions for the problems raised by inter doctors including payments and working hours.
According to UN Human Development Report Estimate, Ethiopia is one of the countries with the lowest Doctor-Patient ratio with an estimate of just 3 Doctors for every 100,000 Ethiopians.
