Three-time Olympic champion Tirunesh Dibaba is expecting her second child and will skip the 2019 season.
The 29-year-old, whose husband is two-time Olympic silver medallist Sileshi Sihine, announced on her social media account on Friday that she is expecting their second child.
I am very excited to announce that my husband and I are expecting our second child, she wrote.
Speaking about her career Trunesh said this means that I will not be competing for the rest of the year but I hope with God’s help that I will return to competition next year.
Then Tirunesh Dibaba offered a message of gratitude “I want to thank my family, Nike and all my fans for their support!”
In 2015 Trunesh gave birth to her first child and was not be able to defend the 10,000m title she won in Moscow at the 2013 IAAF World Championships.
