Former regional presidents Gedu Andargachewu of Amhara region and Lema Megerssa of Oromia sworn in as ministers today.
Ethiopian House of People’s Representatives (HoPR) approved Former Amhara regional State president Gedu Andargachew, to head the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defense respectively today.
In its regular session, held this morning the house is also approved Oromia Regional State president Lemma Megerssa to be the Ministry of Defense replacing, Ayisha Mohammed Mussa, who was appointed as the first female defense minister in October 2018
Similarly, Ayisha Mohammed Mussa, is appointed to be the new minister of Urban Development and Construction replacing Jantirar Abay.
A month ago Gedu Andargachewu, president of Amhara regional state has submitted a resignation from his position as head of state.
The regional council has received his resignation and appointed Ambachew Mekonnen (PhD) to be a head state of the region.
Since the appointment of Workneh Gebeyehu Negewo, the former foreign minister as Director-General of the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) this critical ministerial position remain open for several days.
