At least 70 Ethiopian have died after a boat capsized off in the Red Sea while they were travelling to Saudi Arabia crossing Yemene, Deutsche Welle, Germany’s public international broadcaster report.
According to the report, 60 people who have been killed in the accident are youth from Tigray regional state, Atsbi Wonberta District.
The boat carrying around 70 youth sank in Red sea, Saturday, Aprile 12, 2019, according to sources.
As 60 of the migrants were from Atsbi Wonberta residents of the Woreda are in deep sadness and shock, Local people told DW.
Although the remaining young men in the boat were Ethiopians, yet there exact number and address are not reported.
According to DW, more than 40 families are mourning the death of their family members starting from Sunday.
Tigray Communication Affairs Bureau confirmed the death of 40 youth from the district and offered its condolences families of the victims on Wednesday.
