An agreement has been signed for the construction of Abay bridge in Bahir Dar Town of Amhara regional state, Fana Broadcasting reported yesterday.
The construction project agreement is signed between the Ethiopian Road Authority (ERA) and China Communications Construction Company Limited, multinational engineering,(CCCC) and construction company.
According to the report various federal and regional government officials attended the signing ceremony is held in Addis Ababa, the capital.
Residents of the city have been frequently asking for the rehabilitation and the reconstruction of the bridge which was used for a long time with no basic repair.
CCCC the Chinese construction company is primarily engaged in the design, construction, and operation of infrastructure assets, including highways, bridges, tunnels, railways, subways, airports, and marine ports.
The company has engaged in many construction projects in Ethiopia. With a growing Chinese presence within Ethiopia, China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC) is set to make its regional head office at Addis Ababa. To be called CCC’s East Africa Head Office.
The bridge will include a two-lane highway and a pedestrian walkway.
No start or competition dates were given for the construction of the bridge.
