The foundation stone for one Abay Cement, one of the huge projects that Abay Industrial Development S.C plans to build is laid in East Gojjam Zone today March 20, 2019.
Ambache Mekonnen (PhD), president of Amhara regional state and Melaku Alebe, region’s Industry and Investment Bureau head, laid the foundation for the 8.8 billion birr cement factory project at Degen Woreda.
The ceremony is attended by several regional government officials and local residents,
The project, which is owned by the Abay Industrial Development Corporation, will take 24 months to complete and will start production within 28 months, according to AMMA.
With 5 thousand tone clinker capacity a day, the factory is expected to create more than 1500 job opportunities, AMMA reports.
According to Project Manager, Asrat Kidanu, the factory would produce 2.5 million tons of cement annually.
