A fire which broke out today after midnight causes severe damage in Bahir Dar, the capital of Amhara regional state.
According to commander Wallelgn Dagnawu, head at the city police department, the fire accident was reported at 8:00 at night.
An unknown number of residential houses, Gold and Silver shops, Hotels and other service providing shops are destroyed, according to police.
“The accident caused no damage on human life, No casualty was reported in the blaze,” said Wallelgn, adding that several properties is damaged by the fire.
The cause of the blaze has yet to be ascertained, the police is undertaking investigation to find out the cause of the accident, he added.
Members of Fire controlling brigade and local community were working collaboratively to control the fire accident before causing much harm, said Wallelgn.
According to police the city administration is working to provide temporary shelters for those people whose houses are burnt.
