Prime minister office announced today that Ethiopia set to host world economic forum next year 2020.
Abiy Ahmed (PhD), Ethiopian prime minister met with Prof Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of World Economic Forum. They agreed that Ethiopia would host WEF in 2020.
Abiy and Prof Schwab discussed the importance of a collaborative approach among government, the private sector, civil societies in addressing key global challenges.
Abiy Ahmed summoned an Investment Strategy Dialogue with selected CEOs of multinational corporations in Davos to highlight the progress that is becoming evident in Ethiopia and improvements that are tangible despite challenges and setback.
He Also stated that Ethiopia is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world located in the crossroads between Africa, the Middle East, and Asia with enormous untapped investment opportunities in agriculture, textile, agro-processing, infrastructure and various segments.
Parallel to the discussion in Davos Abiy also met interim President of the World Bank Group, Kristalina Georgieva, where he appreciated the robust & strong technical & financial support and asked for the support to be sustained.
The WBG remains Ethiopia’s reliable partner for development finance and expertise, said the information from prime minister office of Ethiopia.
It is recalled that Ethiopia hosted World Economic Forum in 2012 in the capital Addis Ababa.
