A forum entitled with “Supportive and Follow up Packages and Directions of the progress for Private Higher Education and TVET Institutions” is convened, 29 Dec 2018.
H.E. Hirut W/Mariam (PhD), Minister, Science and Higher Education, expressed that Private Higher Education and TVET Institutions are supporting the government making citizens to get access to education. In the case currently, about 164 Private institutions are absorbing over 150,000 students, she said.
In spite of the facts raised above, resolving challenges facing the sector to improve the quality and relevance of the sector cooperative work is the timely agenda, the Minister added.
She addressed, at last, Private Higher Education and TVET Institutions shall acquire the necessary standards in giving education and training services.
Zerihun Kebede (PhD), Director General, Higher Education Research and Academic Affairs, has presented supportive and follow up draft manual. The draft manual comprised the roles, rights, and duties of the Ministry and the Institutions.
Molla Tsegaye(PhD), President, Association for Private Higher Education and TVET institutions, raised chronic challenges facing the sector. In line to this detailed achievements and shorts of the sector has been presented by Tsegaye Channe (Mr), Senior Expert, Private Hight Education and TVET institutions Supportive and Followup team, MoSHE.
The way how to support and enhance with modern technology the educations, research, and training services of these institutions is presented by Zelalem Aseffa(Mr), Director, Higher Education Research and Data Center, MoSHE.
On the half-day forum, higher officials of the Ministry, representatives of all Private Education and TVET Institutions, HERQA officials and experts, the invited honorable guests have participated.
