FM Workneh Gebeyehu (PhD) foreign Affairs, arrived in Khartoum today for a working visit to the Republic of the Sudan.
The two sides discussed on bilateral and regional issues of common concern for the mutual benefits of the peoples of the two sisterly countries.
Upon arrival at Khartoum International Airport, Minister Workneh was warmly welcomed by State Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Sudan, Usama Faisal.
During his visit Foreign Minister Dr. Workneh is met and hold discussions with President Omar al-Bashir and other high-level Sudanese government officials.
President Omar al-Bashir said, “We will work to make sure that Ethiopians living in Sudan feel at home.” “Ethiopia’s peace and stability is a matter of our national security concern,” he added.
Minister Workneh said, “We attach significant importance to our relations with the Republic of the Sudan.
The two sides have also agreed to work together in moving forward the economic integration efforts in the Horn of Africa region as well as the promotion of regional peace and stability.
Currently anti-government protests which demand the regime change is held across Sudan.
Reports from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia gives no information on whether Workneh’s visit has connection with the recent political instablity in Sudan.
