Ethiopian People’s Democratic Movement (EPRDF) has no plan to change the party program but to advance it, according to Fetlework Gebre Egziabher, head of EPRDF office.
The general assembly has decided to enhance its program in its latest meeting held in Hawassa weeks ago.
However, fake news is circulated over various the media outlets as if the EPRDF has passed a decision to made changes on the program which party has ruled for 27 years.
Saying that it was true that some members of the party have raised questions related to changing the overall party program.
After comments and discussions from members the general assembly it has agreed that practicing Revolutionary Democracy will bring changes in the nation, she said, adding that is members’ right to suggest ant possible program changes.
Changing a program is not an easy task, it should be based on research, she stressed.
Consists of Amhara Democratic Party (ADP), Oromo Democratic Party(ODP), Southern Ethiopian People’s Democratic Movement (SEPDM), and Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), The Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) is the current ruling coalition.
Following the recent rebranding of the two parties ADP, and ODP, many have expected similar name and program changes in the EPRDF.
In its 11th Congress which held in Hawassa, Southern Ethiopia, a week ago, EPRDF, has reelected Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonen as Chairman and Vice-Chairman, respectively, of the coalition until the next Congress.
