After Yeabsira’s story was aired on ETV, many promised to help, Yeabsira and her mother, Fantanesh Amare who live in a house being used to raise chickens, according to ETV report.
In a broadcasted programme in Ethiopian Television, a 7th grader Yeabsira asks prime minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) to help her.
“I just want to get a decent sleep!” she sobbed.
They already booked Yeabsira & her mom in a hotel until a 1m. birr house they will buy for them in 1 month is ready, Michael Ghebru of Belayab Foods & Production PLC, the franchisee of Pizza Hut Ethiopia said.
Michael Ghebru also said Pizza Hut Ethiopia was looking to offer a job opportunity to Yeabsira’s mother, Fantanesh Amare, and will sponsor Yeabsira’s education until she joins the university. “It was kind of like a wake-up call…it helped us to understand what was going in our country.”
Addis Ababa is home to thousands of its residents who live in poverty the level of which is hard to quantify.
