Mussie Kifilom, general manager of Lion Zoo is sacked for delays in renewal projects of the Zoo, which founds around Sidisit Kilo, Addis Ababa.
The Lion zoo which is found in Sidisit kilo was shut down for the last 18 months, due to a renewal construction undertaking to rehabilitate the city park.
However, the renewal construction has shown very little progress which is only 14 pc.
Seven lions were died due to hunger and poor treatment in two years time, lions which are currently existing in the zoo are seen very weakening and struggling to get up and move.
Aiming at providing better and modern zoo services, the construction and rehabilitation project of the zoo started two years ago.
The delay in the restoration and the management and handling of lions and other animals is reportedly dangerous for the life of the animals.
The construction which was expected to finalize in nine months time has delayed and only 14 pc is completed.
Following the complaint from the residents, Takele Umma (eng.) the newly elected deputy mayor of the city and other government officials have visited the Lion zoo.
Established in 1948 by Emperor Haile Selassie, Addis Ababa Zoo keeps lions, apes, lesser kudus, ducks, eagles, and tortoises.
