Tsadkan Gebretensae retired TPLF general, now a businessman said TPLF has to reform its political structure.
He said this last week, in an interview with Addis Admass Amharic weekly newspaper.
The rise of Abiy Ahmed (PhD) and the new leadership saves the nation from such great chaos and unpredictable future, he said mentioning that the peaceful power transition restores hope to the countries politics.
If we correctly handle the transition it would bring better opportunities for the development of the nation, he said.
However, the new transition system did not manifest its administration style yet, it is still under transitional process, he added.
The return of several exiled political parties to the country to struggle peacefully is promising. However fear of dispute between sister parties in EPRDF is observed, said Tsadkan, when asked about opportunities and challenges that the country would have in the future.
On the other hand, it is seen that there is a security threat which seems out of control of the government, people mobility and under risk, as insecurity grows in the nation, he noted, advising the government to work for stability and enforce the law
Tsadkan was also asked about the current political situation in Tigray regional state after the emerging of the new leadership.
First people of Tigray was in support of the reform and accept the new leadership as a chance to create mutual benefit with people of the nation.
However, people feel insecurity after hatred towards Tigrayans is spread all over, the people began to question about their well-being, he said.
When asked about future reforms on TPLF he said that the young generation is struggling to bring a change inside the party, adding that youth and university scholars are in support of the reform.
The very first thing that TPLF must consider is a structural change, for instance, make a clear separation between government and party, establishing free security system, empowering the parliament to strengthen its efficiency to control the executive body, he noted.
