A Joint military training and Command Post exercise to ensure the combat readiness of Egypt, Saudi Arabia and UAE was conducted with the supervision of the USA in the Red Sea, an Egyptian army official has said.

The exercise was held with aim of controlling and maintaining the security of the international waterway of the Red Sea, and to proportionately counter any threats by Iran and Qatar.

“ The exercises provide opportunities for participating nations to collaborate on an even wider range of maritime security operations.” U.S. Central Command said Thursday.

The military exercise, code-named “Response of the Eagle 2008” included training in search and rescue operations, mines combat as well as inspections, was carried out by the Navy and Airforce of the four countries.

Two months ago, Egypt, Greece, and Cyprus involved in a joint naval and air exercise along Egypt’s Mediterranean coast.

It is recalled that Egypt and United States held a war games called, “Bright Star”
